OUR Clients Say

The "Medicam IPL 7 is one of the most impressive one I have ever used on patient. Competitors are at least 3-4 times that price. Cost effective, very reliable unit.

Cathy Perters,
M.D., Dermatologist

"For the past year we have been working with the Medicam MD-IPL6 on a number of patients. We own several devices from other suppliers and we have to admit that your piece of equipment is one of the best and reliable we have ever used. The patients are thrilled with the results. That you and we look forward to a long and successful business relationship. We'll be back very soon for other additions.

-Eclipse Lase.,
- Gary Wayne

Thank you for all your information and my needs analysis, I just viewed the site and the machine looks great. I'd like to compliment you on the dedication and flexibility of yourself and your staff. You worked very hard under very rushed circumstances and, Steph, in particular was a joy to work with. He was very responsive and consummately professional.

-Frank Lee,
- Global Esthetics

I would like to say a big thank you for all your help in the last few years. Medicam and especially Phil have given help beyond the call of all previously experienced laser manufacturers. It really is The One Stop Company. I can fully recommend Medicam for its honest, no nonsense approach, fair price and very high quality standards.

- Philip Aaronovitz Owner

Cloe, I really do appreciate all the effort you are putting into this training (and it shows!) If this is a benchmark of the service you give your clients, then I salute you!

-Blueberry salon,
- Patricia Brandfield - MD

"I used to tell my IPL patients that they required a minimum of five sessions. But now, with the Medicam MD-IPL12+ system, I tell them they need three to five sessions, generally three to four weeks apart. Particularly with pigmented lesions on the hands, face and chest, you can achieve 80% to 90% clearance with three sessions. Patients love it. There is not one patient who prefers my older IPL system. The new system is also extremely economical. It is about half the price of some competitors' systems and works much better."

-Maude Friedman,
M.D., Dermatologist

"I like that the Medicam MD-IPL7 includes both the visible and non-visible wavelengths. The handpiece is effective for reducing pore size and warming up collagen to achieve a smoothing of the skin's surface. I notice an improvement in color,as well as an improvement in toning, tightening and texture. The Medicam MD-IPL7 system provides, by far, the widest range of applications. Keeping the same handpiece with its advanced technology, changing from one crystal to another is very easy. It takes you approximately 5 seconds. The system is also cost effective. At least, a company came in with an improved unit by listening to its customers"

-Ethan Regiani, M.D.,
Dermatologist and Cosmetic Surgeon

"Overwhelmingly, my patients began demanding that I add non-ablative procedures to what I have traditionally offered them as a cosmetic surgeon. They convinced me that they wanted procedures that provided excellent results with a lack of downtime and minimal side effects. With Medicam, I have all of this, yet for a wider range of applications than I ever could have offered to patients before."

-Alejandro Valdez,
M.D., Cosmetic Surgeon, Mexico

The "Medicam MD-TT10 Q-Switch Yag system is one of the most impressive one I have ever used on patient. Competitors are at least 3-4 times that price. Cost effective, very reliable unit. I am thinking now to add the new TT12 Suction.

-Tanji Patel,
M.D., Dermatologist

"The MD-TT12SC affords treatment of the widest variety of skin types with the highest margin of safety, and now the new Suction option offers even greater safety for my darkest skin patients. The treatments are so fast and so effective, the pigment does not fade back in the skin anymore. Congratulation for building such an amazing unit"

Frequently asked questions

What is Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal?

Intense pulsed light hair removal is a new and advanced, long-term hair removal method. A client sits or lies in a comfortable position, and then a technician glides a wand-like tool, or handpiece, over his or her skin. The handpiece emits a beam of specially filtered light, which is absorbed by the hair and converted to heat. This heat disintegrates the hair and disables the hair follicle.

Is the Treatment Safe?

Yes, it is very safe. Some people may experience mild reddening of the treatment area for a day or so after treatment, but other complications are rare. The Intense Pulsed Light system delivers energy to the skin very gently. Plus, the handpiece extracts heat from the skin during each pulse of light for maximum protection.

How long does it take?

Treatments are extremely fast, over twice as fast as waxing. A pair of legs or a man's back can be treated in less than ten to twenty minutes. Smaller areas, such as the face or back of the neck, can be done in less than a minute.

Does it hurt?

No. The light is selectively absorbed by the hair and hair follicles. The skin itself is exposed to little heat. Plus, no irritating chemicals are used, and the hairs aren't pulled on in any way.

How long does the hair stay gone?

Hair may never return at all. The exact amount of time that the hair stays gone depends on the area being treated, the settings selected by the technician, and individual hair and skin factors. Depending on the settings used by the technician in accordance with the patient request, hair removal may either be permanent or for a certain period of time (4-5-6 months)

What body areas can be treated?

Almost any area of the body can be treated: the legs, back, upper lip, chin, underarms, back of the neck, bikini line, etc.

Do I have to let may hair grow out to a certain length before I can get treated?

Not at all! With intense pulsed light treatments there's no need to let hair grow out before you remove it. Light penetrates beneath the skin to reach the hair follicles. If you wish, you can get treated at regular intervals so that you skin remains virtually hair free all the time.

How does Intense Pulsed Light Hair Removal compare with waxing?

Intense pulsed light hair removal is faster, more comfortable, produces longer-lasting results, and can treat hair before it becomes visible. Additionally, hair grows back more slowly after intense pulsed light treatments and is thinner and lighter in color.

How does it compare with Laser hair removal?

Laser hair removal has many of the same benefits as intense pulsed light hair removal. Operating a laser, however, often requires more expertise than operating an intense pulsed light system. Treatments are faster with an IPL system and a lot safer.

I have thick coarse hair on my chin that I want to get rid off….How?

Nothing is more embarrassing than facial hair, but unfortunately it is a very common problem. The quickest and most effective method to get rid of hair is to use Intense Pulsed Light. This involves a hand-piece placed on the skin and a bright flash of broad-spectrum light is emitted. The wavelengths chosen are easily absorbed by melanin, which is the color in the hair. The light is transmitted through skin tissue, and is absorbed by the root of the hair within the skin. Heat is produced which radiates out into the follicle wall destroying the cells so hair re-growth is impeded. Only a few treatments, at monthly intervals usually are needed to obtain stunning results. It is very quick, virtually painless and no redness or skin reaction to worry about.

I have some unsightly sunspots on my hands. What can I do about them?

This is where Intense Pulsed Light systems are superior to lasers, as they can offer more than one type of treatment. Intense Pulsed Light utilizes a range of wave lengths [laser has only a single wavelength], which enables it to respond to hair color, small red blood vessels and pigmentation irregularities in the skin due to sun damage. The hand piece is placed on the skin over the sunspots or other pigmentation and a bright flash of light is released. This light is absorbed by the pigmented area, which will go even darker over the next few hours. The area will look a bit "dirty" or dark for about a week, then it will slough off leaving clear fresh new skin. Often only one treatment is necessary to create a stunning difference. This treatment is not only very effective for those aging, unsightly-looking sunspots on hands, but is excellent for irregular pigmentation on face, neck, etc...

I have been shaving my underarms every few days for years. The hairs are thick, coarse and constantly growing back. What other alternatives do I have?

There are various other temporary alternatives, like waxing, plucking and depilatory creams, but they are not the answer if you want some sort of permanency. The modern answer for hair removal is Intense Pulsed Light. Precise doses of light within specific wavelengths are emitted from a hand piece placed on the skin and moved along after every pulse. The light travels through skin and is absorbed by melanin. When the light is absorbed, heat is produced which destroys the hair follicles. Usually only 4 – 6 treatments are required. Underarms respond particularly well so stop wasting your time regularly shaving or waxing.

I'm confused, what is the difference between Laser and Intense Pulsed Light?

Laser is a single color of light: Red light for Diode Lasers, which means all the rays are the same wavelength. There are a number of different lasers used for hair removal. Their effectiveness varies with what the wavelength is. Some lasers are very effective, others are not so good, which is why one hears a lot of variation in results.
Intense Pulsed Light is broad spectrum light, made up of a range of wavelengths and colors. This range means one can treat more hair types effectively, with more consistent results. Besides removing hair from face and all body areas, Intense Pulsed Light has other uses. It can treat sun damage, pigmentation on face, hands and chests, small blood vessels and diffuse redness found on the face and chest.
Medicam Research Center and Medicam incorporated pride themselves on having the latest technology with proven success. Our MD-Pulsed Light systems are the best in the world. North American design backed by medical research and clinically proven results give us the edge.

I continually get ingrown hairs on my bikini line from waxing. What can I do about them?

Obviously you feel you need to remove hair from the bikini area or you would not have put up with painful and unsightly ingrown hairs, but why continue with waxing if it is causing such problems, especially as it is only a temporary method of hair removal? Ingrown hairs are a very common problem but they can be eradicated if you remove the hair by other means. Intense Pulsed Light is the answer. This is a beam of light emitted from a hand piece moved across the skin. It is attracted to the melanin in the hair and as the hair absorbs the light, heat is produced which destroys the surrounding cells that cause growth. This treatment causes no skin reactions minimal discomfort, maximum results within 4 to 6 treatments, and no more ingrown hairs! People get so excited by the results that they tend to want more and more removed…not a problem, as we can remove virtually all the pubic area.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Using state-of-the-art laser technology, It gently removes sun-damaged, scarred, aging skin or performs light laser rejuvenating peels. The laser uses a beam of light to vaporize scarred, lined, wrinkled, or otherwise imperfect skin. Laser light penetrates to a very precise controlled depth, making the procedure safe and predictable, while minimizing the risk of scarring or pigmentation problems.

What is IPL Photorejuvenation?

Both the pleasure and stresses of life, along with the simple passage of time, tend to cause our skin to appear older. IPL Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive treatment that erases skin damage without disruption of the skin's surface, hence, no "downtime".
Using Intense Pulsed Light (IPL), It can simultaneously treat a wide range of facial concerns safely and effectively, such as broken capillaries, skin discoloration, age spots, freckles, mottled pigmentation and the symptoms of rosacea.
"I no longer need to worry about my blemishes.
I can't believe my eyes!"
Photorejuvenation provides long-term improvement of complexion and skin texture, with only the slightest interruption in your busy lifestyle.

How Does Diode Laser Hair Removal Works?

A laser produces a beam of highly concentrated light.  The pigment located in the hair follicles absorbs the light emitted by the laser.  The laser pulses for a fraction of a second, which is just long enough to vaporize the pigment.  This disables several follicles at a time to eliminate or significantly impede the hair’s regrowth.  However, inactive hair follicles and those containing minimal or no pigment are not adequately affected by laser treatment.

This technique is referred to as lasertrolysis.  It was invented by a team of laser dermatologists at the Wellman Laboratories of Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital.

Is Laser Hair Removal Painful?

All effective hair removal techniques have some level of discomfort.  Our expertise in skin anesthesia allows us to provide you with maximal hair removal results from the Diode laser MD-100™ Diode Laser with the best pain control available.

The MD-100™ system is fast, which reduces treatment time.  It provides long-lasting hair removal, which reduces the need for repeated treatment.  The MD-100™ system contains the patented diode cooling module integrated in the main unit.

Appearance of the Skin Following Treatment?

Immediately following treatment, the site will be somewhat swollen, appear slightly red in color, and may feel like a mild sunburn.  This reaction subsides over a few hours and then the treated areas usually return to their normal appearance.  The amount of discomfort following a treatment is usually minimal and does not limit most physical activities.

Length of Procedure

Each pulse of laser energy will treat a round area of skin approximately 4-5mm.  For this reason, the amount of time required depends on the size of the area to be treated.  For example, the upper lip and bikini line may require only five to fifteen minutes of treatment, while a longer period of time will be required to treat the back or legs.

Number of Treatments Required

Since each person has a different amount of hair follicles and different types of hair, the amount of treatments needed per area varies.  Typically, three to five treatments are needed to achieve a satisfactory result.

Also, laser hair removal works only on those hair follicles that are in a growth stage.  Typically, 80 – 85% of a person’s hair follicles are in a growth stage at any given time.  After initial treatment of an area, hairs that grow back are usually in the early stages of growth, which makes them most vulnerable to laser treatment.  For this reason, any necessary follow-up treatments should be performed as soon as possible after the hairs begin to regrow.

Is Diode Laser Hair Removal Safe?

As with any medical treatment, use of a laser for hair removal can have some side effects.  However, side effects have been minor and manageable.  The precise laser parameters used have been carefully defined by the study of hair follicle anatomy and the precise matching of pulse duration to the size, depth, and location of the follicle.

Is Laser Hair Removal Right for Me?

Although laser hair removal is an option for almost everyone, there are some conditions that might make such treatment undesirable.  For example, laser hair removal is ineffective for white or very light blonde hairs.  Therefore, each patient is required to schedule a consultation so that their skin and medical history can be examined for any conditions that could be worsened by laser hair removal treatment.

During the initial consultation, photos will be taken of the area to be treated.  Also, several small “test patches” will be done to gauge the patient’s reaction to laser hair removal treatment.  This will allow for the selection of a treatment program that will ensure optimal results for each patient
